Onder productie van Odell Borg zelf (die hier en daar ook mee speelt) verscheen onlangs de cd Pure Passion van John Bear. Een rakere titel had deze cd niet kunnen hebben, want het is inderdaad pure passie waarmee John de diverse N.I Flutes (van High Spirits) bespeelt. John is van Choctaw / Apache afkomst en heeft een leven van ups en downs achter de rug. Zijn vrouw en de Native American flute hebben hem helpen overleven en zijn inspiratie haalt John dan ook uit zijn veel bewogen leven en de onvoorwaardelijke liefde van zijn vrouw. John is wat heet een traditionele fluitspeler, die schittert in improvisaties en klankbeelden. Fantastische muziek in een haast impressionistische stijl te noemen manier van fluit spelen. Een inspiratiebron voor hen, die de fluit na aan het hart hebben liggen. In het hoesjes staan ook welke fluiten bespeelt worden. Doe je mee?

Een selectie van 13 solo stukken op de Indiaanse fluit door de grootmeester. Sober, ingetogen, ontroerend. Op het hoesje staat welke High Spirit fluit hij gebruikt dus heb je die... speel maar mee. De muziek op deze cd is dromerig en vredig. Gespeeld vanuit zijn hart rechtstreeks naar het jouwe. Erg mooi.

Great snapshot look at both the Native Americans and the Arctic Peoples that are the "natives" of North America. The first half of the book is devoted to the Native Americans and the second half to the "Arctic Peoples." Each page spread contains a different topic: Nomadic Life, Dress and Identity, Travel and Transportation, Home Life, Tribal Society, etc. Timeline information and craft ideas run along the bottom of the pages. Not every page has a craft or timeline, but there are plenty of crafts for even the most craftiest of parents/teachers. The pictures are beautiful, the quality of the paper is great, and I can see great use for this book for everybody interested in the Native American Way of Live.

Veel informatie op speels manier gebracht en met vele ideeën om zelf dingen te maken 'the original American way'.
